The robot vacuums market has evolved a lot in the past years. Today it is not necessary to spend a fortune to get this technology and make our lives easier.

A robot that goes around the house and cleans all day sounds like an expensive luxury, but if having the most advanced features in your RoboVac is not a priority for you, it is possible to find affordable options with a lot of useful features like remote control, programming, anti-fall and anti-collision sensors.

The eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim) is the slimmest of the RoboVac eufy models. It is only 2.85” tall to clean under low-hanging furniture with ease. Also, it has multiple cleaning modes and auto-clean scheduling that ensure a complete cleaning cycle around your home.

The BoostIQ™ Technology has up to 1300Pa of suction power, more than enough to make the floors and carpets are clear of all dirt, dust, and crumbs. It is also equipped with a larger 0.6L dust collector that allows it to pick up more dirt and dust. Its runtime is 100 minutes, which is arguably good in this category.

This RoboVac doesn’t have useful features such as an App control or smart-home compatibility. Another lack is it doesn’t have a “smart mapping” function. It means instead of adjusting its course according to the obstacles and areas of difficult access, it navigates randomly until it finds a clear path, which increases the cleaning cycle and occasionally it misses some spots.

If you want a good performance and easy-to-use robot vacuum on a budget, the eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim) is your better option.

The main reason for choosing a 900 series model over the cheaper 600 series is it delivers 5x more airpower suction. Furthermore, after returning to the dock and completely recharging, it resumes automatically the cleaning work until the job is done. Other nice features are “VSlam navigation” (actively captures thousands of precise measurements) and Smart Mapping feature that remembers multiple rooms to clean an entire level of your home.

The iRobot Roomba 960 is also ideal for homes with pets. Its “Premium 3-stage Cleaning System” cleans the dirt and pet hair you see and the allergens and dust that you don’t. High-Efficiency Filter traps 99% of cat and dog allergens.

However, to get the more advanced features from the Roomba brand, such “Power Lifting suction”, clean or schedule by room, “Keep Out Zones”, Intelligently that remember multiple floor plans (900 series remember only one level) and “Automatic Dirt Disposal”; it will be necessary to upgrade to significantly more expensive i7 and s9+ series.

If you want the best of the best and you can afford it, this category of robot vacuums is for you. You’ll get the more advanced features available, premium quality and very good performance. The robot vacuums in this segment are very well rated in Amazon and in general, the customers are very satisfied with them.

Another factor, to consider getting one of these premium devices, is if you have a big house with different floor levels. The advanced smart-mapping technologies and the capabilities of the multi-floor map will make your cleaning a lot easier.

The first brand to consider is, again, iRobot Roomba with their models i7 (7150) and s9 (9150). The technology and features of both models are impressive, but our choice is the Roomba i7+ (7150). On the paper, the Roomba S9+ (9550) is a little more advanced and it has an Anti-Allergen System, but the i7(7150) has better and more reviews on Amazon and the customers are very satisfied with this model.

Another interesting option is the Neato Botvac D7  It is cheaper than the Roombas, it has the same features, but it doesn’t include automatic dirt disposal and the smart-mapping capabilities are slightly inferior also.

This is an ideal choice for medium and big houses with hairy pets, Thanks to the 3-Stage Cleaning System, smart mapping navigation, and the self-cleaning dock, the Roomba i7+ provides a superior cleaning experience compared to other lower-priced models. It is necessary to say the Roomba i7+ is the name of the package that includes the dock that enables the self-emptying feature, called Clean Base and it is also available for sale separately.

Another nice feature is the Imprint Smart Mapping technology that enables the robot to learn, map and adapt to your home, allowing to control which rooms are cleaned and when to clean completely an entire level of your home, besides, it can remember your entire home (up to 10 unique floor plans).

The Roomba i7+(7550)  comes with the iRobot HOME App, to monitor cleaning activity and history. Besides, it has integration with voice command integration using Alexa or Google home assistants. Despite its advanced features, we would have liked it to have more runtime autonomy (only 75 min) and the replacement bags were cheaper, especially after having paid a high price for the Roomba i7+

There is another category of Robot vacuums to consider, Vacuum and Mop. In the last few years, a new generation of this kind of robot vacuums has been launched and their performance has evolved a lot.

However the fact the mopping capabilities are not ideal, and they cannot replace a handheld mop completely, they can help a lot with our cleaning needs and above all, to save time and effort, in other words, make our lives easier.

Probably you are wondering why there are not iRobot options in this category. The answer is that they don’t have hybrid options (vacuums + mop). Instead, they have a dedicated line of robots mops called Braava (for example the iRobot Braava Jet M6).

Adiotanally, iRobot offers the bundle of robot vacuum (Roomba) + robot mop (Braava) and they can communicate between them (iRobot Imprint™ Link Technology) to automatically clean in sequence – vacuuming and then mopping.

In this category, our option is the Roborock S7. It has a very good power suction (2500 Pa), smart-mapping capabilities, decent mopping performance and it works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

Another interesting option is the iLIFE V5s Pro. It doesn’t have the same advanced features, but it is cheaper and it has good cleaning performance.

The Roborock S7 has a good navigation capability thanks to his advanced mapping technology: Laser mapping systems scan your home as S5 cleans, giving it the information, it needs to clean every room.

This robot vacuum has a strong suction (2000Pa) and multiple cleaning modes: Carpet, Quiet, Mopping, Balanced, Turbo & Max, to have a good performance in every possible situation and all kinds of finishes. It is possible (with the app control) to schedule cleans, view cleaning progress and information, take control manually, check accessory status, choose clean modes, clean specific areas, and self-recharge.

It has a water tank with a capacity of 290 milliliters of water. As a reference, this amount would give you to clean a 200 square meter house in one go. Thanks to the electric water flow control, which allows setting the right amount of liquid that will soak the mop, it can adapt the cleaning according to different types of floors. For example, we can select a higher flow for greasier floors such as kitchen floors, where it is also more common to find stains or a lower flow for more delicate stone or wooden floors.

On the downside, the app control has had some bad comments because it could be more intuitive and user-friendly, and some users have reported problems connecting to the app. It is necessary to say that the moping performance is average but not ideal as other more specialized equipment but surely it helps a lot to maintain the cleanliness in our home.

The price difference, between the different models and brands, is mainly due to technological development, such as the possibility of scheduling and remembering floor maps, navigation patterns (randomly vs smart mapping), connectivity, applications on smartphones to control it, and voice control.

Do not expect a cleaning as deep as an upright vacuum cleaner, but possibly your floor will be cleaner than ever because it will make a daily and methodical cleaning cycle. You’ll love how quiet it is compared to a regular vacuum cleaner.
